Choose a model

What it does

The model picker is a button in the composer. It sets which model answers your next message. Auto is the default and prefers a local Myra model that is verified for tools.

The list shows for each model:

  • A hosting flag with the country: Germany for Myra, or EU, US or China. A globe marks a model whose region varies.
  • A privacy indicator.
  • Task labels: Long documents (a context of at least 200,000 tokens), Web research (the model can use tools), Step-by-step reasoning (extended thinking), Images (the model can look at images) and Fast and cheap (among the cheapest models).

If several providers offer the same model, the list shows one row per provider, marked via and the provider name. The row you choose decides which provider answers.

How to ask

  1. Click the model button in the composer. The list opens upward, or downward on a tall start page. On a phone it is a bottom sheet.
  2. Type in Search models… to filter the list.
  3. Choose a model with a click. After you type to filter the list, you can also use the arrow keys and Enter.
  4. If the model supports it, switch Adaptive thinking on or off. The switch is disabled, with a tooltip, when the model does not support it.

When you send, the chat compares the model with the one that wrote the last answer. This matters after New chat from here or after a model change in an unlocked picker. If the model is less private, a dialog asks you before the message goes out. Choose Send with the new model, Switch back to the previous one, or Cancel.

Tips

  • Leave the picker on Auto unless you have a reason to change it. For a spreadsheet or CSV, Auto may hand the question to a more capable model, and the reply tells you so.
  • Choose before your first message. Once the conversation has an answer, the picker is locked. If the first message gets no answer (unless a guardrail blocked it), you can still choose another model.
  • To continue a locked conversation on another model, use New chat from here on a reply. It copies the conversation and files up to that reply, and you can choose the model again.
  • The table below shows how three Myra-hosted models did on the prompts printed on the use-case pages.

What our tests measured

We ran each prompt ten times per model on Myra-hosted models, using the prompts of the linked pages. A prompt counts as passed when at least 8 of the 10 runs pass. The table covers every use-case page that prints example prompts; the email agent page shows its own per-mail results. The counts cover the English and German prompts of each page and show how many of those prompts passed. They are a measurement of these prompts, not a ranking of the models.

Limits

  • The picker is locked once the conversation has an answer, or when a project pins a model. A padlock explains why.
  • A Local only project lists only local models.
  • On the free trial, the list shows a note that the trial includes a limited selection of models. More models are available on a paid plan.
  • The table covers three models and the prompts on the linked pages. Other models and other prompts are not measured here.
  • Labels are hidden when the window is lower than about 400 px.

When something goes wrong

  • The list shows "No matches for …". No model matches your search. Clear the search field.
  • The reply says "Skipped web search — not available for this turn." The chosen model has no tools. Pick a model with the Web research label, or start a new chat.
  • The picker is locked. Use New chat from here on a reply to choose again.
  • A project accepts no model you want. A Local only project offers only local models. Ask your administrator if none is available.
