Draft mail replies with Myra AI in OX Mail

What it does

The Myra AI plugin adds actions to OX Mail (OX App Suite). In the read view of a message it offers "Myra AI: Reply suggestion", and in the compose window it offers "Draft with Myra". "Myra AI: Compose" is an action in the toolbar of the mail list (no message needs to be open); it writes a new mail from an instruction.

Before Myra drafts a reply, a small dialog asks "What should the reply say?". You can answer in a few words, for example "decline, I am on holiday" or "agree, but only from 2 pm", and Myra builds the reply around that. The answer is optional. If you leave the box empty, Myra decides what the reply should say from the message itself.

The same dialog has a "Form of address" choice: Automatic (the default), or formal "Sie" or informal "du", each for an unknown or a known recipient. It tells Myra how the email addresses its recipient. The dialog appears for "Myra AI: Reply suggestion", "Draft with Myra" and "Myra AI: Compose".

Myra only writes a draft. It never sends anything: you review and edit the text, then send it yourself.

How to ask

  1. Open the message you want to answer, or start your reply in the compose window.
  2. In the read view choose "Myra AI: Reply suggestion". In the compose window choose "Draft with Myra".
  3. In the dialog "What should the reply say?" type what the reply should convey, or leave the box empty.
  4. Under "Form of address" keep "Automatic (Myra decides)", or choose one of the four forms: formal "Sie" or informal "du", for an unknown or a known recipient (formality 3/3 down to 1/3).
  5. Choose "Draft". The text is inserted into a reply or into your draft.
  6. Read the text, change it where needed and send it yourself.

"Myra AI: Compose" opens its own dialog with the same "Form of address" choice; the result opens as a new email.

Choose "Close" to leave the dialog. Nothing is drafted then and nothing changes.

You can write your answer in any language. The language of the reply is still decided by the usual language rule of the plugin, not by the language of your answer.

Create an appointment from a mail

In the read view, "Myra AI: Appointment" looks for an appointment or a scheduling request in the open message.

  1. Open the message and choose "Myra AI: Appointment". -> Myra shows "Analyzing the appointment...".
  2. In the dialog "Appointment detected" choose what to do: "Add to calendar", "Add + send confirmation", "Polite decline" or "Propose another time".
  3. For "Add to calendar", the dialog "Create appointment" shows the detected start and end time ("(end estimated)" when the message names no end), the text it was found in, the invitation text and the invitees.
    • If the date is in the past or far in the future, the dialog shows This date is in the past or far in the future - check the year before saving.
  4. Choose "Create appointment". -> The OX calendar opens with the appointment prefilled. Review the attendees and the time, then save it yourself. Nothing is created or sent automatically.

A single proposed time counts as a proposal also when it is phrased as a question (for example "Does Tuesday at 10 work for you?").

If the message has a calendar invitation attached (an ICS file with a timed, not cancelled event), the time is taken from that file, not from the text. The model still writes the invitation text and suggests invitees. If the file cannot be read, the time from the text is used.

Tips

  • Keep the answer short and concrete: the decision and one reason are usually enough.
  • Name what must appear in the reply, such as a date or a time.
  • Leave the box empty when you only want a polite, neutral answer.
  • "Myra AI: Compose" (mail list toolbar) takes a longer instruction, up to about 8000 characters.

Limits

  • Your answer to "What should the reply say?" is limited to about 1000 characters: the box simply stops accepting text at that point, and a longer paste is cut off there.
  • An instruction in "Myra AI: Compose" is limited to about 8000 characters in the same way: the box stops accepting text there.
  • Myra checks the plugin setup and the message before the dialog opens. A missing setup or an unreadable message is reported before you are asked anything.
  • In the read view, a message that is too large to process in one action, or that has no readable text, is reported after you choose "Draft". In the compose window, a draft with no readable text is reported before the dialog opens.
  • Your "Form of address" choice applies to this one email only. It is not stored; the next time the dialog opens it shows "Automatic" again. "Automatic" keeps the behaviour from before the choice existed.
  • "Form of address" accepts exactly five values: Automatic and the four forms. Anything else counts as Automatic.
  • "Form of address" never changes the language of the email; the usual language rule still decides it. In a language other than German, Myra uses that language's matching level of formality.
  • Nothing is sent automatically. You send the reply yourself.

When something goes wrong

  • The box stops accepting text. You reached the limit of about 1000 characters (about 8000 in "Myra AI: Compose"). Shorten what you pasted or typed. If you pasted text, check that its end is still there.
  • "Myra AI is not set up yet." Open Settings > Myra AI and add your API token. This is reported before the dialog opens.
  • "This message has no readable text." Myra cannot draft from this message. In the read view this is reported after you choose "Draft"; in the compose window it is reported before the dialog opens.
  • "This message is too large to process in one action." Answer a shorter message. This is reported after you choose "Draft".
  • A message that says your budget, balance, trial or subscription is used up or inactive. The request was refused and trying again does not help. Ask your workspace administrator to add funds, raise the limit or choose a plan.
  • "…reserved by other requests that are still running." Wait a moment and try again.
  • "No appointment or scheduling request found in this message." The message contains no appointment. Create it manually if needed.
  • "Myra found a possible appointment in this message but could not verify the time reliably." Check the message and create the appointment manually.
  • "Could not open the calendar." The appointment details are copied to the clipboard. Paste them into a new appointment.
  • The reply does not say what you wanted. Draft again and word the answer more precisely.
